What we store, and what we never see.

Short version: almost everything stays on your device, the one list we keep is the one you put yourself on, and we run no ad trackers.

If you just read

Reading requires no account and sends us nothing personal. Your coins, comments, champion/flag marks, and your resume-where-you-left-off position live in your browser's local storage, on your device — they never reach our servers, and clearing your browser data erases them.

If you join forces

When you sign up as a founding reader, we store exactly what the form holds: your name, your email, your note, the time you sent it, plus the country code and the User-Agent string your browser sent — the make and version of the browser. We do not intentionally create or store a persistent device identifier, and we do not combine it with anything else to build one — though we are not going to tell you a User-Agent is anonymous in principle, because in combination with other signals it is not. It sits in our Cloudflare datastore, is used only to write to you — rarely, and only when something's worth your evening — and is never sold, shared, or rented to anyone. Analytics

Corrected on 25 August 2026. This section used to say we used Cloudflare Web Analytics and that there was therefore nothing to ask you about. That was not true while it was published: a reading beacon was running on the library, writing a random id into this browser and reporting how far down a page you got. Nobody set out to publish something untrue — the beacon was added to the pages by hand and this page was somewhere else — which is exactly why it is now impossible: one script places both, and it fails the build if a page counts without asking.

What we measure, if you say yes. Which page you opened, how far down it you reached, how long you were actually looking at it, and whether you finished. It is tied to a random id kept in this browser — not a name, not an email, not an account, and nothing that follows you to another site. It exists to answer one question: is any of this actually being read.

Nothing is measured until you say so. No id is created and no request is made before you answer. Saying no is remembered, so you are not asked again. If your browser sends Do‑Not‑Track we do not ask and do not count.

Third parties

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and the site is served by Cloudflare — both receive the technical request data any web server receives (IP address, browser type). We run no advertising networks and no social-media pixels.
